I’m going to be like you Dad
Every once in a while when I’m driving the kids around and they fall asleep I decide to listen to my IPhone music. One of the songs that came up in the playlist the other day was Cat’s in the Cradle, a really touching song, I always enjoyed it but now that my girls are getting bigger the thought of them growing up and having their own families makes me feel like I’m having an anxiety attack! It’s not that I don’t want them to enjoy their lives, I just have become acutely aware just how fast the journey will go, Averi says she wants to grow up to be an artist, like me, there are few things as flattering as your own children who think you hung them moon-

They Grow so Fast…
This little guy gave me SUCH a hard time during his newborn session, after we tried for 3 different sessions, and still only had enough for me to make an announcement and print a few lovelies for Mom, I deemed him the HARDEST BABY I’VE EVER PHOTOGRAPHED. This is in fact, an accomplishment! I have many little ones who fight a good fight before falling asleep in the studio, but little Hudson man REFUSED to sleep, he clung to being awake like it was his profession, none of my “photographer tricks” worked, I’m happy to report that this session went easier on me and his Mommy Jac, just look at this gorgeous pic of the two of them, aaahhh, if they would just stay that little forever!

Third time is a Charm
II said after Scarlett was born, it is much harder to have 2 than one, but 3 is a perpetual headache! Even though they make me want to rip my hair out of my own head on occasion, I wouldn’t change my family a bit. (I consider my teenage stepchildren as a HELP rather than a HINDERANCE, love you Nick and Gayle! I know that Michelle feels the same way, even though I’m pretty sure she has blocked out most of the session with the 3 kiddos due to emotional trauma lol. This was my favorite image of their youngest Meredith. but there were so many fun images of them!

Got Gorgeous?
High School Seniors, (and I’m mainly talking to the Ladies here) Have some of the worst self-esteem, I realize that a lot of that is just the nature of women in our society. Little girls are taught that being beautiful is the most important thing, secondary to nothing, even education. I hear them pick their faces and bodies apart, (my nose, my skin, my arms etc.) It makes me feel so AWESOME to know that even though she may not feel like the most beautiful girl when she walks into the studio, she feels gorgeous when she sees her true beauty shining through her eyes in her portraits we capture. Beauty is not only skin deep, it’s a state of mind, and we know how to capture it

Hot Momma!
Even though I myself felt like a WHALE when I was pregnant, (ok maybe more like a manatee) I think nothing is more beautiful than a pregnant woman glowing and making a tiny little baby, I love to photograph them, and even though many times they are reluctant in the beginning they LOVE the result! One thing to remember is having had 3 kids myself, I know just what you’re self conscious about and how to photograph you and edit the pictures in a way that you will love. If you are thinking of having them done but unsure, call and talk to me! I’m sure you’ll want to do it, and love the treasured images as a result.

It was great to start 2012 off with my favorite kind of session, babies!! Seriously nothing cuter, and if being cute was a job, Lauren would be CEO. She turned on those smiles even though we changed her, and backgrounds many times. Her Momma, Stephanie, always brings the cutest outfits, and props, it’s impossible to stop photographing this girl, and even though she was sleepy, she stuck it out and flashed that adorable gummy smile over and over. I love these with the little owl hat, if I was a betting girl, I’d say Lauren’s got a future in modeling!

Sitting Pretty!
When Chrissie called me at the last minute to see if we had any openings just a few days after Christmas, my first impulse is always, OF COURSE! Upon further reflection, I realized how hard that would be with all the prior commitments that day, but I’m SO GLAD I decided to book this session, the images turned out beautiful, this one was one of my favorites, I love how tiny she is!
